No pool, no limit on how many times you can get these. Now take a deep breath and listen up: there are also cash bonuses tied to beating high scores, and these are, technically, infinite. So do poorly in Story Mode, and you'll be able to use high scores to get a total of $35,000 (7 levels x $5000) in Director's Cut, just by getting astronomical scores If you draw from this Score Bonus money pool entirely in Story Mode, there will be none left over in Director's cut. For the sake of simplicity, let's just say that for scores under 100K points, you'll get pretty meager bonuses, but for those approaching 200K, you'll get thousands of dollars. For each level there's a pool of $5,000 you can get from reaching a score above 20,000 points. But playing poorly in Story Mode is also advantageous for amassing the cash from another sort of bonus, the Score Bonuses. Really, this just means you have to play poorly throughout the Story Mode and not get any bonuses, then make up for that in Director's Cut. If you do the same on Director's Cut, then you won't get anything. So say you get the '70% or greater accuracy on _' unlockable, and the $400 cash bonus on Story Mode. This cash bonus goes into the bank account for the mode you're in. Here's why you need to plan your finances carefully: cash bonuses are tied to unlockable 'achievements' (check out our Secrets section for a list of these) that span both modes and you can only get the cash bonus for them once.

You should plan for this accordingly, assuming you want a lot of money to purchase and upgrade weapons for the bigger, better, uncut mode. After beating Story Mode, you'll start over from scratch in Director's Cut, with no money in the bank, and now weapons. The money system in Overkill is convoluted, to say the least. Tossed weapons can always be shot with no effect to your combo meter. Finally, learn to recognize running zombies that will grab you, pukers and weapon tossing baddies so you can take them out ahead of time. Also, avoid pickups if you can, since if you miss, or get swiped at, you'll lose your hard-earned Goregasm. First of all, avoid headshots since they are too risky, and not worth the meager bonus. Once you do, there are a few other ways to keep that combo going. So don't expect to have much luck with combos until you have an upgraded Auto Shotgun. It's better than the regular Shotgun since it fires faster and, most importantly, carries one extra shell when fully upgraded. It's more advantageous than the upgraded Handcannon since it has a wide spray for its range. This is for several reasons, the first being that it kills most enemies in one hit. The key is to upgrade to a better weapon, and we greatly prefer the Auto Shotgun. This may seem pretty difficult with your basic Magnum, which may take anywhere from 1-3 shots to kill your average mutated wretch.

That means it takes 25 kills without missing once to attain a Goregasm combo.

Hardcore Violence: +200 points per kill.

For each five you add on to your streak, your score bonus will increase. You can keep track of the number of kills in your combo streak with the target symbol on your HUD: dots are single kills, bullet holes represent 5 kills. Each zombie you shoot will then count for a certain amount of points more than usual, as notated by the +number in the top left corner of your HUD.

Killing 5 zombies without missing a shot or getting wounded (shooting pickups won't hinder your progress) will result in a score bonus. Not surprisingly, combos are where you'll really start seeing your scores increase. This doesn't matter so much as you generally have to kill every zombie on screen to move on. Also, certain zombies are worth more points. Headshots give you more points than body shots, so use Slow Mo-Fo pickups to make these easier. Although, if you kill any civilian, even outside these special encounters, 5,000 points will be deducted from your score. Other things also increase your score, like Golden Brains (2,000 a pop) and completing Save the Civilian Encounters (5,000). There are a number of ways to boost your score, the best of which is combos, which we'll get to in a bit. Your score matters in Overkill since it can earn you cash (see below). For the location of every golden Brain in both modes, check out our Walkthrough. In Director's Cut, the 5 extra Brains are generally in the 'deleted scenes,' but not necessarily. There are 10 of these in every Story Mode level, and 15 in Director's cut. Golden Brains can be collected for a 2000 point bonus. Collect them to use when you have a high combo going, or to save your butt when you are out of ammo. They clear out all enemies at medium range and will not hurt you. Grenades can be fired with a tap of - or C (on the nunchuk).
